Challenge
Green Circle Salons runs a sustainability program for 16,000+ salons — collecting hair, color, and other waste streams, recycling them, and reporting impact back to the salons and the public. The legacy platform had grown into a patchwork: member management in one system, supply-chain logistics in another, certification in spreadsheets, marketing site on its own CMS. Member growth was outpacing what the team could support manually.
Approach
A 6-week discovery built a single architecture for the member journey from sign-up through pickup scheduling, certification, and impact reporting. The build approach was incremental — public marketing site and member sign-up flow first, then the member portal, then the operations and supply-chain integrations, then certification.
What we built
A modern Astro front-end with a Payload-based CMS for the marketing site and the impact reporting. A member portal where salons manage pickups, track their impact, see their certification status, and access marketing assets. Integrations with NetSuite for orders and invoicing, with logistics partners for pickup scheduling, with HubSpot for member lifecycle, and with the carbon accounting system that backs the public impact numbers. A certification engine that tracks member compliance and auto-renews when criteria are met.
Results
16,000+ salons are now on the platform. Manual support hours dropped 58% as members moved to self-serve for pickups, certification, and impact reporting. Certification renewals increased 34% as renewals became one-click rather than email-chase. The platform now ingests 1.2M+ impact data points per month for public reporting. Green Circle Salons remains on a Yab support and growth retainer.
